It saddens me to have to announce that The BackRoads Band will be taking a break.
Only because of an employment opportunity,is why I am stepping down for awhile.
Hopefully in time, I will have some weekends off, and I will be able to return. I want to thank all of the guys,
our families, and especially all of our dedicated fans, for keeping us going for 20 years.
I will be keeping this site going until the end of the year. If anyone wants a "special memory piece"
from the BackRoads Band, just send me your mailing address, through where it says
"Contact Us" and I will send it to you absolutly free. Thanks again for all of the great years,
and memories,....Joe.... I also want to add, we will be keeping our annual
"Appreciation Party" in Findlay, and New Years Eve at The Flag City V.F.W. . . . . . .

Hi there,
I want to welcome you to the "BackRoads Band" official web site!
My name is Joe "Shannon" Lanker, and I would like to tell you just a little bit about the band.
It all started back around 1989, when I was right out of high school. Me and another man by
the name of Paul Cook decided to start a band,along with his son, Jason Cook, and his nephew,
Trent Cook. Eventually Jason and Trent moved on to other things,
but me and Paul kept on going. Paul and I performed every gig we could get ,
from rough honky tonk bars, to weddings, and even a few divorces! Years later after a
performance in Bradner, Ohio, Paul passed away. I was at a real crossroads then.
After alot of decission making, me, my wife Shannon, my lightman Bill Lawrence, and our
"BackRoadie", Nick Miller, decided to continue on. It was a great decission. I now have
Billy Johnson on the bass guitar, Rick Puchta on drums, Rick Rochester on lead, and with me,
Joe Lanker, we make up the BackRoads Band. Our music is centered on yesterday,
and todays country music, and that great southern rock sound. We also love the
50's and 60's music. We have now performed well over 1000 shows, and alot of our
venues have included top name entertainment such as Ricochet, Jefferson Starship,
Bill Anderson,Trick Pony, and Steve Azar, for a few.
I want to personally thank you for stopping by our site.
